What to Expect During your Lumecca Treatment
Treatments are quick, usually 20-45 minutes, depending on the treatment area. You may feel a warm snapping sensation, similar to a light elastic snap. Most patients tolerate Lumecca very comfortably.
After the treatment, you can expect the pigmented lesions to darken before flaking away. Some experience the "coffee ground" effect, where the pigmentation darkens and rises towards the surface of the skin, creating dark speckles that resemble coffee grounds. They will naturally slough off, and it is important to note not to pick, scratch or exfoliate during this process.
If treating for redness, rosacea-like flushing, and/or broken capillaries, mild redness and warmth, similar to a sunburn, are to be expected immediately after your Lumecca treatment. The heat of the IPL causes the blood vessels to coagulate and be naturally reabsorbed by the body. Overtime, the redness will start to fade.
