Neurotoxin and Dermal Filler Injections; What are your expectations and are they realistic?
I have had the pleasure of introducing many client to the field of medical aesthetics. This process starts during their consultation. Many clients–experienced or new to getting neurotoxin and filler injections enter their appointments with a pre-conceived notion that they will need the same amount of product as their friend who just received treatment, or that the area they are hoping to treat will require “X” product. Unfortunately the process of receiving injections involves a complex set of factors and is a lot more than just injecting product into the area of treatment.

During each consultation, I look at muscle and facial anatomy, and its structure size, shape and symmetry, and of course the clients expectation and the changes they would like to see. This means taking into account all components, including genetics and age in order to provide the best treatment that will not only give them the best results but also suit them and their aesthetic profile. This is a part of the consultation that you will not get everywhere.
The biggest component I want to convey throughout this process is that this is a individualized process

“Cosmetic Injections are not a one size fits all treatment. Personalization is necessity when it comes to enhancing beauty”
How can this change your treatment plan and what are some expectations everyone should have going into their medical aesthetic appointment?

Some times the treatment you had in mind may not be the recommended treatment after a detailed consult. A trained eye can recognize that for instance building bigger lips on a facial profile with a recessed chin and under-defined jawline, is only going to further throw your facial profile out of harmonization. As we add filler to one area, we are often creating a recessed or deficit in another, so the need to balance this out while injecting is very important
Similarly when we inject neurotoxin. Some clients appear to have smaller lips than they actually do due to strong peri-oral muscles-causing them to pull their lips in. In this case, it is a muscle concern not a volume loss. By relaxing some of the muscles around the mouth and chin, the lips will also be more relaxed, creating a pout that the client never had prior.

We are not meant to look alike, and although you want lips like Susan, that doesn’t mean those lips will look good on you. I would never want to deliver a cookie-cutter approach in my business. Not only would that be completely unprofessional, but it also would be boring. The beauty in this world is that we are all unique and are meant to be different.
